Vista Kitchen
After bringing up their daughters in a small, dated kitchen, my clients contacted me to finally create their dream. The husband cooked and grew a kitchen garden. The wife baked and canned vegetables. She knew what she wanted and all we had to do was design it to fit into an approximately 10x10 space!
Before: After 25 years of rigorous use, the dark cabinets had seen better days. The peninsula-style shape lost precious storage space. The garage door opened into the refrigerator.
After : A new floor plan needed to be developed allowing for double ovens, a commercial-style cooktop and pot filler, a farmhouse sink and a small island. We were able to get enough wall space for the stove by replacing the old sliding door with a new one without side lights. Sunlight flowed from the new west-facing window which my client had been wanting for years!
I worked continuously with both the husband, who took on the demanding construction work, and his wife, who had many photos for me. The best results allow for this back and forth between client and designer.
