Solana Beach Kitchen

Originally, my clients wanted a solution to a hanging lamp over the island that bumped their heads.  The lack of an exhaust fan allowed for the smell of their dinner to fill the upstairs bedrooms.

My immediate solution was:  Raise the ceiling.

Before:  The ceiling had been lowered by the previous owners to accommodate electrical cables and plumbing ducts.  There were handprints from their tall grown children who gather for large family get-togethers in this warm and spacious home.  They decided to keep their cabinets, their new refrigerator and breakfast table.

After:  Having a good construction crew makes all the difference for a project to run smoothly.  Raising the ceiling took great coordination between us and we were able to bring in much needed extra lighting. The low profile exhaust fan eliminated the use of a hood which my clients did not want.  The cabinets were given new life with a rich color tone.  The wooden floors were repaired and refinished.  Wall color and countertops were coordinated with accessories after consulting with my clients.   While they were out exploring they found a new lighting fixture for their breakfast room.

All was done just in time for a celebration party with catering and live music for 30 friends.  Best of all-I was invited!

We have since freshened stairs and other living spaces with new wall color and carpeting.  The choice was easy with the help of their 2 year old grandson who knows his colors well!
